Detrich and McLaughlin Honored as Everyday Heroes

Thanks to the dedication of two of Shore Health System’s own staff, a hospice patient was given a very special final wish. Terry Detrich, MD, neurologist and medical director of the Primary Stroke Center at Memorial Hospital at Easton and Sue McLaughlin, executive assistant to the Chief Medical Officer and medical staff at Shore Health, were recently recognized as Everyday Heroes.

A hospice patient shared with his chaplain a story about a memorable meal he missed – one that involved hunting and eating game birds. Detrich and McLaughlin stepped in to help, locating the wild duck and preparing a meal complete with all the trimmings.

The Everyday Hero Program provides patients, their families and the local community an opportunity to thank a Shore Health System physician, employee or volunteer by making a financial donation to the Memorial Hospital Foundation in their name.
