The Hospitality Shop at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge will be temporarily closed while the volunteers take inventory and re-stock the shelves with new spring merchandise. The shop will host a grand re-opening celebration on Monday, January 25 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Volunteers from the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary operate the Hospitality Shop. Proceeds from sales benefit programs and services offered through the hospital.
On January 25, the volunteers will serve cake and punch throughout the day. Everyone who visits the shop will receive a free bag of candy and will be entered in a drawing for a Valentine basket filled with a stuffed teddy bear, a picture frame, jewelry, personal toiletries and snacks.
“We are excited about the new line of merchandise we will have ready for our re-opening,” says Barbara Lipe, an Auxiliary volunteer who chairs the Hospitality Shop. “We will stock the same high quality merchandise that our shoppers expect at even more reasonable prices.”
The Hospitality Shop is known for its assortment of high quality earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pins. When the shop re-opens, the inventory of jewelry and fashion accessories will be updated for spring. Shoppers looking for special Valentine’s Day and Easter treats will find plush toys, scented candles and other unique gift items.
Lipe adds, “We are adding more healthy snacks to our food menu for employees and visitors who are looking for a light bite when the cafeteria is closed.”
