An Eastern Shore man wanted in connection with an attempt to run down a Cambridge police officer during a traffic stop is now in custody. Demetrice Demby was arrested without incident at a friend’s home in Baltimore City. Police say the 39-year-old sped off from a traffic stop as a K-9 unit was scanning his vehicle for drugs. An officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck and was subsequently injured. Demby is already back on the Eastern Shore, as he was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center immediately following his arrest. He’ll be answering charges of attempted murder and assault on a lawman.
