Two Easton High School lacrosse players arrested and suspended for having a penknife and lighter in their gym bags are winners in their appeal to be reinstated and have their records expunged. Education officials in Talbot County admitted it failed to use “appropriate discretion” when it disciplined the teens. The Maryland state school board, which heard the appeal made by Easton teammates Graham Dennis and Casey Edsall, were convinced the two used the items to fix their lacrosse equipment and nothing more. The Baltimore Sun reports it was a rare victory for the students as the state board doesn’t often overturn decisions made by local school boards.
