Easton High School’s Drama Club Proudly Presents Larry Shue’s Uproarious Comedy: THE NERD

Set in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1979, THE NERD centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect, Willum Cubbert (Ricky Smith) who is visited by Rick Steadman (Franklin Taylor), a fellow ex-GI who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam.  Although before this visit, Willum never met the man who saved his life, he often vowed that the welcome mat would always be out for this unsung hero. But delight takes a U-turn when his rescuer, Rick Steadman (Franklin Taylor) turns out to be a bumbling, insensitive nerd with no social sense, little intelligence, and even less tact, as well as being the dreaded “Guest Who Would Never Leave”!

When Willum’s boss Warnock Waldgrave (Will Dawkins) shows up with his wife Clelia (Katie Reed), and child Thora (Sarah Daly), Rick’s antics cause Willum’s career to suddenly be in jeopardy. Seeing their friend in danger of losing his job and his sanity, Willum’s two best friends Tansy McGinnis (Molly Wilson) and Axel Hammond (Joey Bridges), come up with a hilarious plan to try to tactfully get rid of the now unwelcome guest, who has practically ruined Willum’s life.
