Eleanor Nelson Joins ShoreRivers as Development Specialist
ShoreRivers is pleased to announce that Eleanor Nelson has been hired as Development Specialist. In November 2017, three environmental organizations—Midshore Riverkeeper Conservancy, Chester River Association and Sassafras River Association—merged to form ShoreRivers, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to healthy waterways across the upper and middle Eastern Shore. Nelson looks forward to using her extensive background in producing events for nonprofits to bring ShoreRivers’ events to a new high-water mark. She will provide support for ShoreRivers’ science-based advocacy, restoration, and education programs and activities. She is also excited to help develop the organization’s revenue base to secure a stable, long-term flow of funds to support ShoreRivers’ vision of healthy waterways for Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Marketing from the University of Maryland College Park, and is a recent graduate of George Washington University’s Landscape Design program. Much of her career has been spent working for nonprofit organizations. As a conference and event planner, she has used her organizational skills and creative abilities to create exceptional environments for learning, networking, fundraising, celebrating, and more. Driven by a passion for nature, her efforts for the past few years have been in the environmental industry.
In her leisure time, Nelson spends as much time as possible outdoors taking photos, running, kayaking and exploring. She and her husband reside in Oxford.
Shorerivers Director of Development Kristan Droter says, “We are thrilled to have Eleanor on board as a key part of our dynamic team. Her professional background and local ties will be tremendous assets to our mission.”
