The Board of Trustees of Wye River Upper School is pleased to welcome Eleanor Shriver Magee to a three year appointment as Trustee. She began her service with the July meeting.
WRUS Chair John Devlin reports “We are thrilled that Eleanor will help us strengthen our program and make it more accessible to a larger group of deserving students – her years of work with a variety of non-profits has taught her very well. She is well known for her integrity and compassion.” Magee is currently employed as Executive Director of the Historical Society of Talbot County. Prior to her current position, she served as the Director of Development for Choptank Habitat for Humanity.
Magee’s experience spans the five Mid-Shore counties, having served as Coach for the women’s lacrosse and soccer athletes of Washington College in Chestertown, her alma mater. She served as the college’s Director of Alumni & Parent Relations prior to relocating to the Talbot County region. Magee remains actively involved with the college’s alumni programs. Magee also holds a Masters degree in Education from Goucher College and completed coursework in the Doctoral program in Education at Wilmington University.
She and her husband Jack reside in Easton with their young son. Both Eleanor and Jack have a personal appreciation for the mission of Wye River Upper School. “It is critical that a school like WRUS exist so that high school students in our region with a variety of learning styles, needs and passions can be educated by equally passionate teachers who offer a matching variety of teaching styles, flexibility and understanding. I am excited to serve with the other trustees during this important time for WRUS.”
