Eric Hervol Joins CBMM

CBMM_ApprenticeHervolEric (332 x 500)Eric Hervol of Seattle, WA has joined the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD as a shipwright apprentice. Hervol’s apprenticeship begins with restoration work on the historic skipjack Rosie Parks. During his one-year CBMM apprenticeship, he is living in St. Michaels.

Hervol recently completed a nine-month diploma program at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Port Hadlock, WA. He also holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in computer science, mathematics and biology from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Hervol was introduced to the Chesapeake Bay in October 2012, while helping a friend move a boat to St. Michaels. His volunteer experience includes work with Friends of Trees in Portland, OR, Creve Coeur Fire Department in Missouri, and as a teacher on the schooner Adventuress out of Port Townsend, WA.

Through educational, cultural and interactive exhibits and activities, CBMM celebrates the connections between the Bay and its people while inspiring an understanding of and appreciation for the rich maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal reaches.
