Innovative sales ideas, new shop fixtures and 156 hard-working volunteers are some of the reasons cited for the banner year at Estate Treasures, the upscale resale shop benefiting Hospice of Queen Anne’s. Estate Treasures donated a remarkable $112,414 to Hospice of Queen Anne’s during 2013 primarily from shop sales and special fundraising events.

Kathy Ciambruschini, Estate Treasures board president noted administrative and managerial improvements, such as a new business plan and updated bylaws, and a closer working relationship with their hospice liaisons really seemed to make a difference. Refreshing the inside of the shop with new fixtures and displays, constantly moving and arranging merchandise, and the addition of Thursday evening shopping hours have also contributed to the increased sales.

“We asked our board members for creative ideas and they produced,” said Ciambruschini. “The addition of weekend sidewalk sales and the 50’s sales event were their ideas for boosting sales and it worked,” she said.

The success of the past year would not be possible without the women and men who donated an astounding 18,282 hours to operate the establishment.  The efforts of the all-volunteer staff were presented in an Official Citation on behalf of Sen. Stephen Hershey, Jr. and The Maryland General Assembly, Legislative District 36 members. The volunteers of Estate Treasures were recognized for their “tireless commitment and donations to Hospice of Queen Anne’s.”

All proceeds remain in the local area directly benefiting individuals who need specialized hospice care in their homes or the Hospice Center, and families who are helped through the Hospice of Queen Anne’s grief support programs.

Estate Treasures features gently worn fine clothing, career and formal apparel, fashion accessories, jewelry, home furnishings, small antiques and other donated “treasures.” The shop is located in Chester at 17 Kent Towne Market. Hours are Monday to Friday 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Thursday evening until 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about Estate Treasures, call 410-643-7360.
