Evergreen Celebrates Earth Day Dedicating A New Mosaic Welcome Sign

IMG_0397 (400 x 241)Evergreen, A Center for Balanced Living celebrated Earth Day on Monday, April 22, with the dedication of a new, very colorful mosaic Welcome Sign crafted by artists Sue Stockman and Bobby Malzone of St. Michaels.

“This beautiful mosaic sign will greet everyone as they arrive and are welcomed at Evergreen,” said Linda Evans, Executive Director. Linda Evans attended the first Earth Day in Washington, D.C. at events at the base of the Washington Monument where she was living and studying at the time of April 22, 1970. Earth Day is an annual day on which events are held worldwide to show support for environmental protection. The April 22 date was designated as International Mother Earth Day by a consensus resolution adopted by the United Nations in 2009. Each Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and is celebrated in more than 192 countries every year.
