Explore The Haunted Eastern Shore

They walk beside the murky waters of the Chesapeake Bay, linger among the fetid swamps and roam the manor halls. These are the tormented souls who refuse to leave the sites of their demise. From pitiless smugglers to reluctant brides, the ghostly figures of the Eastern Shore are at once terrifying and tragic. Join Chesapeake College and author Mindie Burgoyne on a spine-tingling journey exploring the five county regions’s most haunted sites.  The first part of the adventure is an in-class pictorial journey to the sites held on September 30th from 6-8 pm at the Wye Mills campus.  The cost is $20 per person for the two hour adventure.

The first bus trip will be offered on Sunday, October 10 from 12 – 4 pm.  This adventure will take participants through Talbot and Dorchester counties where they will learn why a tree in Tunis Mills is called “the Hanging Tree”, what ghost rose from the dead in the Whitemarsh Cemetery, where the “Hole in the Wall” is located and learn of the ghost that lurks there, and why The Wilderness is one of the most paranormal spots in Talbot County.  Drive past the farm fields and home of slave catcher and mass murderer, Patty Cannon and see if you think it’s a haunted place.  Find out the story of how Suicide Bridge got its name.  And more!  Ghost hunters come from all over the country to experience the paranormal at some of these sites.

The second bus tour adventure is Sunday, October 24 from 12 – 4 pm.  Guests will travel through Queen Anne’s, Kent and Caroline counties.  Discover the tale of the strange man mounted on a horse who is often seen approaching the Kent Manor Inn.  Find out which bedroom is haunted by Kitty Knight at her famous colonial home.  Pass by the site of the famous Cosden Murder Farm and the White House Farm – famous for its bloody stone.  Find the grave of Tallulah Bankhead where she’s been known to appear in one of the most haunted cemeteries in Maryland.  Guests will hear the history of these buildings and sites; listen to the legendary tales of ghosts, haunting and stories of the dead; and experience many of the sites up-close-and-personal.  These are just a few of the haunting tales that will enthrall passengers!
