Families who create together, stay together. Looking for a way to spend time with your children and boost your own skills in an amusing and imaginative way? Kids Night Out is the perfect place to do art with your children. Kids learn best by watching and mimicking how you learn something – so spend a Friday evening making fun art projects using recycled materials in a creative, relaxed and generally fun way while spending good, quality time with your family.
Glenn Shiring, a professional artist and musician, will be teaching Kids Night Out at Kent Island Federation of Art through his popular Mixed Media with Recycled Materials classes. Glenn demonstrates each step of each process and works alongside the students, forming a focused and inspired studio environment. No experience is necessary, just the desire to create. Free expression and experimentation is strongly encouraged in a wide variety of mediums and styles, including paint, pastel, ink, mask making, and found object art. Emphasis will be placed on the use of recycled materials, including driftwood, basket lids, hubcaps, seashells, etc. All materials will be provided. Positive feedback is used, as there are no rights or wrongs…do’s or don’ts with abstract visionary art.
