The Kent County Public Library will present “4 ARTISTS ON THE 4TH” showing the art of local artists Holly Boyle, Cindy Brittain, Emily Kalwaitis and Stephanie Somers beginning at 5pm. Also displayed is the home-schooled student work from the Artworks for Children program.
HOLLY BOYLE’s varied work is at times calm or serene, at times a wild fantasy or romantic view of our past and present. She searches for the humor in life.
CINDY BRITTAIN , a self taught photographer, has exhibited in Cambridge, Art in the Park, and has won the Award of excellence from the Chestertown Arts League.
EMILY KALWAITIS creates magical images from dreams and childhood memories.
STEPHANIE SOMERS does printmaking inspired by her love of nature and traveling.
This year Artworks for Child began offering art classes to home-schooled students ages 6-12. For the entire month, art made during these classes will be displayed in the children’s section.
At the opening reception the students will have the opportunity to learn about other artist’s work and have their work displayed in a public setting. Their teacher will be on hand to lead the students & others in discussions about the art on display. All children & families are encouraged to attend.
The public is invited to park behind the Library and begin First Friday festivities with this month’s featured artists, to include family- friendly fare.
