Flip Flop Contest Winners

The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s free summer concert season, “Thursdays in the Park” ended with record attendance, boasting an audience of over 800. Concert goers enjoyed the outstanding setting of the Kent Island Yacht Club and a rocking performance by Bobby and the Believers. Kathy Kowalski, who chairs the event, was pleased with this years’ finale, “It was a totally awesome night. I really appreciate everyone who came out to help celebrate our anniversary and this successful concert series.”

The Arts Council is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and has been creating new events and opportunities including the first annual “Fabulous Flip Flop Contest”. Entrants signed up before the concert and winners were announced by judges Lea Brooks and Nora Spicer during intermission. Sharon Lipsius won first prize with her ‘Dollars and Diamonds’ motif, followed by ‘Froggy Flip Flops’ by Linda Collier and ‘Wild Ribbons’ by Patty Adams. Runner ups were Debbie Dean, George and Mary Drake and Sheila Stutman.

The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting, expanding and sustaining the arts. They are supported in part through a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
