Fluharty Promoted to Neuroscience Specialist

Jessica Fluharty, RN, FNE-A, of Trappe has been promoted to Neuroscience Specialist for Shore Health’s Primary Stroke Center located at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. This unit specializes in the treatment of stroke, seizures, head injury, and other acute and chronic neurological conditions and individuals recovering from brain surgery.

In this new position, Fluharty coordinates the Shore Health System stroke education and outreach initiatives for staff nurses, patients and their families, and the community. In addition to nursing duties, she also participates in the quality management and process improvement committee that reviews stroke care at Memorial Hospital. During her nursing career, Fluharty has specialized in critical care and forensic nursing. An employee of Shore Health since 2009, she has demonstrated her leadership talents as the emergency department stroke representative on the clinical stroke care team and also serves as her department’s Global Nursing Shared Global Council representative. She also founded Shore Health’s Operation Power Purse program to help sexual assault victims on the road to recovery.

Fluharty, a certified trauma nurse, is also certified in basic, advanced and pediatric life support. She is a graduate of the Chesapeake College Macqueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing and is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing at Wilmington College.
