The Frederick Douglass Society’s next meeting will be on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 6:00pm at the Easton Welcome and Resource Center on Harrison Street. Members and community are invited to attend and learn about the major fund raisers that are planned: March 20, “Evening with Douglass” at the Avalon Theatre and May 1, The Frederick Douglass Honor Society/YMCA 10- Miler race. Both events promise great excitement for the community and the region as well as the opportunity to earn funds toward the memorial to Frederick Douglass. Discussion will also focus on the FDHS and Town of Easton’s efforts to complete the contract with the memorial sculptor Jay Hall Carpenter as well as steps needed to secure the Talbot County Council’s approval for the memorial design. The public is encouraged to join the Frederick Douglass Honor Society’s vision of a true community-wide effort to realize the dream to Honor Frederick Douglass!
