The Frederick Douglass Society’s next meeting will be on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 6:00pm at the Easton Welcome and Resource Center on Harrison Street. Members and community are invited to attend. On December 21, 2009, a memorial design created by Jay Hall Carpenter, an artist from Silver Springs, Maryland, was selected to commemorate Frederick Douglass on the grounds of the Talbot County Courthouse. The January 18th meeting will highlight more discussion pertaining to the Carpenter winning design including timeline, costs and Talbot County Council approval process. Specific fund raising activities notably “ Evening with Frederick Douglass” program and silent auction at the Avalon Theater on March 20,2010 and  the Frederick Douglass- YMCA Ten Miler, race/walk on May 1, 2010 will be detailed. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting, to learn more about the efforts of The Frederick Douglass Society’s mission and to assist in the realization of the goals to honor Frederick Douglass. Come join us on January 18, which is also Martin Luther King Day, a fitting opportunity to show community support for two great Americans. For questions, contact Pam Black at 410-770-3751
