Free Alzheimer’s Training Now Available To Family Caregivers

The local Home Instead Senior Care office is offering a unique approach to help area families in Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Dorchester, and Caroline Counties manage the challenges of Alzheimer’s and other dementias diseases that eventually rob seniors of their memories and independence. Home Instead Senior Care will offer free workshops designed to help families care for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease at home, where 60 to 70 percent live, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Grasonville Senior Center will host the informative Family Education Workshops on Tuesday, January 22, and Thursday, January 24. The Tuesday workshops will include Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Dementias which will discuss causes and symptoms of the disease and Capturing Life’s Journey which will explore techniques to encourage loved ones to share their stories and memories. The Thursday workshops will include Techniques to Handle Challenging Behaviors and Activities to Encourage Engagement which will discuss the benefits of staying active for the mind, body, and soul.

The workshops will be held 11am – 3pm with a break for lunch both days. Lunch is available at the senior center with advance reservation. Call (410) 827-6010 to reserve your spot and lunch or visit the center located at 4802 Main Street, Grasonville.
