A missing child is every parent’s worst nightmare. That’s why Mid Atlantic Tire and the Easton Police Department are teaming up to help keep kids safe by providing K.ID’s, a free fingerprint and photo kit, to families in the mid shore area. The K.ID event will be held on Saturday April 6th from 1-3 P.M at Mid Atlantic Tire, on the corner of Dover Road and Teal Drive in Easton.
K.ID’s are kits that store vital information such as finger prints, photos, hair samples and other information that can be used to help locate missing children if the unthinkable occurs. The K.ID’s will be provided for free by Mid Atlantic Tire, and fingerprints will be administered by a member of Easton Police Department.
While everyone hopes the K.ID’s never need to be used, the participating child’s parent or guardian will be given the only copy of the prints and photos for safe keeping. No duplicate copies will be kept by the police department or any other third party, and the information will not be entered into any database.
“Although keeping kids safe is a serious subject, the goal is to make it fun for everyone involved” said owner Terry John. “Area businesses will be providing giveaways for the participating children, and refreshments will be served throughout the event. We have a number of fun activities lined up for the kids and more being added.”
The following businesses are supporting the K.ID event: Phillips Wharf, Sparkle Pools, Shore Health, Easton Cycle, McDonalds, The Clay Bakers, Hopkins Sales, Star Democrat, WCEI and WINX, and American Tire Distributors
