Galena Woman Dies After Jumping Out of Vehicle

Karren Amanda Brandt, 34, of Galena, died December 23 at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks. Brandt was airlifted to the Baltimore trauma center on December 10 after jumping from a moving vehicle on Route 213 in Cecilton, according to Maryland State Police. Police reported that Brandt’s mother was operating a minivan on southbound Route 213, just south of Douglas Street.

“The mother and daughter were having a heated discussion and the daughter said she wanted to get out,” Tfc. P. Ellis told the Cecil Whig. “She even went so far as to open the door several times before jumping out.” Ellis said that Brandt and her mother were on their way to Galena from Warwick when Brandt jumped out of the vehicle.
