Over 25 years ago, Bruce Langford worked briefly with his brother in a landscaping business before going off to college and becoming an accountant and corporate executive. Little did he know he was honing skills and nurturing a passion that would enable him to open his own professional landscaping business years later with his wife, Theresa.
Enter Greenwood Creek Landscaping and Nursery: A professional, full service landscaping company that provides an impressive combination of labor, technology and credentials from within the industry. “We’ve invested in the equipment and people to get the job done right at reasonable costs to bring value to our client,” says Bruce.
This state-of-the-art equipment, used to create their masterpiece landscapes, is visible at the new nursery which just opened on April 6th. And while Greenwood Creek has been offering landscape services for eight years, Bruce says the nursery allows them to expand their business to include in-house design consultation services and provide quality landscaping products to their customers. These include a large selection of plants and ornamental trees, mulch, pavers and more.
Theresa, a noted landscape designer, offers design services for large and small landscape projects, and is available at the nursery for landscape and planting consultation. Her brother, a horticulturist at Anne Arundel Community College, recognized for his efforts on behalf of the Chesapeake Bay, is also involved with the business.
As a family venture, Bruce says that most of the staff has been with them for several years. “Our crew has our same principles and business ethics,” assures Bruce, noting the importance of taking care of employees who will in turn take care of clients. This respect for people and life is the reason Greenwood Creek closes on Sundays. “The Lord says even the oxen in the field need a day of rest,” he cites. In turn, they are open Tuesday through Saturday to willingly service their clients. “We are aggressively priced, trying to be a good neighbor,” he adds.
Among their industry qualifications, Greenwood Creek is licensed and insured by MHIC, and certified by the Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute and the National Concrete Masonry Association. They are a licensed installer of CAST lighting (designer outdoor lighting) and an authorized contractor for EP Henry premier hardscaping products. “We aligned with EP Henry so we could provide a superior product, and felt that the certifications were important for credibility,” says Bruce. This emphasis on quality enables Greenwood Creek to confidently extend a five-year warranty on hardscapes, a one-year warranty on trees and shrubs, and a ninety-day warranty on plants. “We’ve never had a call back,” he adds proudly.
Greenwood Creek’s landscaping specialties include bed preparation, planting of trees, shrubs, lawns and sod, and the installation of hardscapes such as patios, walkways, artistic water features, decks and gazebos.
