Ground Breaking Ceremony for QAC Office Building
A new Queen Anne’s County Office building is expected to be built and open to the public by the end of next year. County Commissioners and Centreville Town Officials joined in the Ground Breaking Ceremony October 14, which was held on the construction site which is across the street from Queen Anne’s County High School.
This office building will be a single-story 18,400 square-foot building with a 5,400 square-foot basement. The construction time-table is 14-months with a planned occupancy date of December 2015.
The building will accommodate three agencies the: Department of Planning and Zoning, Office of the States Attorney, and Queen Anne’s County Board of Elections. It will include new public meeting-room space with state-of-the art information monitors and videography equipment. It will include a secure climate controlled warehouse for county voting equipment.
The building was designed using many sustainable features including a geothermal HVAC system, LED and CFL lighting fixtures, natural light tubes, and low-use water fixtures. It will be constructed using metal framing with a brick exterior and an “Energy Star” asphalt shingle roof system. A parking lot with 88 spaces will be built with “water-quality” permeable pavers.
The overall 37-acre site will have 1,800 lineal feet of new public streets with on-street parking, sidewalks, public water and sewer, and a reservation of land to be dedicated to the Town of Centreville for a future water storage tower.
This project will also provide additional building sites for future commercial business development within the county and town.
