Harmony on the Bay chorus celebrates graduates of singing course, prepares for November musical comedy show

Eight women were celebrated by Harmony on the Bay women’s chorus on July 24th after completing a six-week program of singing lessons in Queen Anne. The Ready, Set, Sing! program was taught by chorus director Ronaleen Gapetz.

The group of graduates included two gospel singers; a mother and teen-age daughter; a health care worker, a health administrator, and two retirees. They came from Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Caroline Counties.

Harmony on The Bay is a women’s a cappella chorus specializing in the performance of barbershop style singing.  The eight students worked on vocal techniques with Director Gapetz and practiced two songs by George M. Cohan.  After each class they were invited to join the regular Tuesday night chorus rehearsals.

Harmony on The Bay chorus is now preparing its annual musical comedy show to be performed in November at the Ruthsburg Community Hall. The show will mimic a traveling USO show and will feature George M. Cohan’s “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and ” Grand Old Flag,” along with many other songs.
