Maryland’s historic Oxford-Bellevue ferry is opening for the year and celebrating its 328th year of operation. The ferry, believed to be the oldest privately operated ferry in the country, crosses the Tred Avon River between Oxford and Bellevue. It will run daily through October and on weekends in November. The trips begin in Oxford at 9am and crossings are made every 15 to 20 minutes until sunset. The ferry’s crew is composed mostly of retirees and students.
