Christmas in St. Michaels is held annually the second weekend in December in historic St. Michaels, Maryland. Both ticketed and free events offer a weekend packed with holiday fun for everyone. Proceeds from tickets sales – the black tie gala, breakfast with Santa and the tour of homes – and from sales of a popular collector’s ornament, directly benefit a group of local non-profit organizations.

2009 marks the third year for the annual Christmas in St. Michaels Gingerbread House Competition. Entries are divided into five categories – Professional (chefs and caterers), Adult, Adult and Child, Teen (13-18) and Children (under 12). The contest is open to all and entries are divided into five categories. Professional (chefs and caterers), Adult, Teen (13-18), Child with Adult and Children (under 12).
Cash prizes for one winner in each category include $500 for both the Professional and the Adult, $150 for Teen, $100 each for Child with Adult and Children categories. Houses remain on public display from Friday, December 11th through Sunday December 13th at the Woman’s Club on St. Mary’s Square. No admission is charged. Many of the creations are available for sale and make fabulous tabletop centerpieces or a welcome addition to your front hall for the holidays. Proceeds from the sale of these houses go to Christmas in St. Michaels to support our selected beneficiaries.

The gala begins at 7 pm with a cocktail party atmosphere. A three course, sit-down dinner begins at 8 pm. After dinner, the XPD’s take the stage and the dancing begins. Reportedly the best entertainment band in the MD/DC/VA area, the XPD’s are known for their versatility in music ranging from blues, jazz, pop, rock, and R&B. There will be music for everyone at the Christmas in St. Michaels Gala – from the 50s to today!

One of the highlights of the Christmas in St. Michaels is the tour of historic homes in the village and some very special homes just outside of town. This is one of the longest running home tours in Maryland, now in its 23rd year.

Christmas Bazaar featuring fresh Christmas greens from members’ gardens fashioned into wreaths, centerpieces and swags, beautiful handicrafts and one of a kind gifts. Yummy homemade jellies, jams, breads, cookies, brownies, cakes and fudge are there to tempt you. A wonderful raffle item is offered this year– a hand-woven women’s jacket, custom–tailored for the winner, donated by Jesamie Handwovens in Chambersburg, PA. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5 and can be purchased through the church office. All proceeds from the Bazaar and the Raffle are donated to charitable and non-profit organizations.
