Home Break-In

A 27-year-old Cambridge man was arrested on charges including attempted sex offense after he allegedly broke into a couple’s home and tried to sexually assault a woman. Santos Poroj of 518 Muir Street was charged with attempted first-degree sex offense, attempted second-degree sex offense, second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary and fourth-degree burglary. He is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on $200,000 bond.

According to charging documents, Cambridge police responded to a home on Race Street for a reported trespasser inside the house where police said a woman’s husband was detaining Poroj. A woman told police Poroj broke into her house and came into her bedroom where she and her husband were sleeping. The woman woke up when she felt someone touching the right side of her body. The woman yelled and Poroj ran. The woman’s husband chased Poroj to the roof of the home where he was able to detain him.

After police read Poroj his Miranda rights, he allegedly told police he “just wanted to look” at the woman and then go home. Poroj allegedly admitted to trying to remove the woman’s clothes, according to charging documents. Poroj also said he was not a legal resident of the United States.
