Recognizing the specialized loss that parents feel when they have suffered the loss of a child, and to support the grieving parents in the community, Hospice of Queen Anne’s is offering its annual Bereaved Parent Support Group. The eight-week series begins on Monday, April 23 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hospice Center in Centreville. There is no fee to participate.
The purpose of the support group is to assist families in moving toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age. Information will also be shared that will help others be supportive. The sessions are facilitated by trained staff (one of the group facilitators is a bereaved parent herself) and offer participants tools for handling grief and the support of others experiencing a similar loss.
Those interested in participating in the Bereaved Parent Support Group need to preregister by April 20. For more information or to preregister, please contact Rhonda Knotts at 443-262-4109 or rknotts@hospiceofqueenannes.org.
