HQA Announces Fall Grief Support Programs

Preregistration is underway for Hospice of Queen Anne’s expanded grief support groups which include three adult grief groups and a new holiday workshop this fall, all led by master’s level qualified grief counselors. Hospice of Queen Anne’s offers a variety of grief services, support groups, special programs and individual counseling all open to hospice families and anyone in the community, whether or not HQA’s hospice services have been used for a family member.

Beginning on Oct. 7, the Bereaved Parent support group will meet from 6-8 p.m. for ten consecutive Mondays. This group is for parents who have lost a child or an adult son or daughter to death.

Two Adult Grief support groups begin on Oct. 15 and will meet for ten consecutive Tuesdays. Participants may register for the afternoon group from 1-3 p.m. or the evening group, from 6-8 p.m.

Hope for the Holidays, a new workshop scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, is designed for adults who have lost a loved one and know how difficult the fall/winter holidays can be without them. The workshop will include breakfast and offer practical suggestions for living through the holidays, in addition to meaningful creative activities, discussion and sharing. Child care will be provided onsite with supervised activities and kid-friendly snacks.

“Losing a loved one to death can be one of life’s most painful experiences. Those who may be struggling with a loss don’t have to suffer through this time alone. Hospice of Queen Anne’s is committed to ensuring that meaningful groups led by experienced counselors continue to be available for anyone in the community who needs support and encouragement,” said Sharon Loving, supervisor of HQA Support Services.

Preregistration is required for all HQA grief groups, which will be held at the Hospice Center located at 255 Comet Drive in Centreville. Please contact Bereavement Program Coordinator Rhonda Knotts at 443-262-4109 or email rknotts@hospiceofqueenannes.org.
