Hospice of Queen Anne’s in cooperation with Hospice Foundation of America is hosting Improving Care for Veterans Facing Illness and Death, a continuing education opportunity for healthcare professionals and families who either work with or care for veterans nearing the end of life. The program will be held on May 14 from 1-4:30 p.m. at Chesapeake College in Room EDC-27 of the Performing Arts Center. The registration fee is $20.

The program focuses on the aging veteran population and complicating issues of managing pain and grief in the context of serious and life-limiting illness. Post-traumatic stress disorder, military culture and experiences, sensitivities and interventions will also be explored by clinicians, researchers and veterans.

Continuing education credits are available for a wide range of professions including social workers, counselors, physicians, nurses, home health aides, funeral directors, nursing home administrators and clergy. Veterans and those who have family members who are veterans will also want to attend to learn more about care systems serving veterans at the end of life.
