Board members and staff of Hospice of Queen Anne’s recently celebrated the dedicated efforts of their volunteers in a fabulous 50’s style evening at the Grasonville VFW complete with dinner, dancing and prizes.
“Our volunteers help us in so many different ways: sitting with patients, preparing meals for Hospice Center patients, providing support to a grieving spouse, or helping with administrative duties are just a few,” said Jen Thomas, HQA’s director of volunteers.
“Volunteers are vital members of the hospice team who inspire us every day. We wanted to thank them in a unique, yet meaningful way,” she said.
Following a delicious dinner provided by the Lions Clubs and Queen of Queen Anne’s County, volunteers and their guests rocked the night away to the music of Tim Sullivan, “The Godfather of New England Doo Wop.”
In 2011, volunteers donated 22,946 hours of their time to help hospice patients, families, staff and the community, which translates to a $499,993 investment.
