Join the Institute of Adult Learning (IAL) for an informative Brown Bag Luncheon! The Brown Bag Luncheons are held on Monday’s from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm and cover a wide variety of subjects. Recent topics of discussion have included, Popular Island, Horn Point Oyster Hatchery, Wye River Keepers, and a member’s previous trip to Cuba. On November 12th, the IAL hosted Dr. Don Merritt, Director of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science’s Horn Point, for a discussion about the laboratory’s oyster hatchery program and its impact on the Chesapeake Bay.
The Institute for Adult Learning, established in 2001, is a membership based organization open to all individuals 50 years of age or older. The IAL features educational classes, brown bag luncheons, lectures and special events such as day outings to museums or other attractions. The IAL offers unique educational opportunities that emphasize collaborative leadership and active member participation. Members may enjoy college level academic pursuits without concern for credit, grades or perquisites and can serve on committees to help guide the organization or share their expertise by leading a class.
Upcoming IAL course topics include Yoga, Conversational Spanish, French Wines, Computer Basics, Children of the Presidents, French Women Writers, Current Events, and Cooking Latin American Style, Digital Photography, Bridging the Bays, History of Monotheism, Recent American History and many more.
