Island Athletics Event Raises Funds for Hospice of Queen Anne’s

Island Athletics in Grasonville recently hosted “Movement for Hospice,” a unique community event that raised $1,775 for Hospice of Queen Anne’s while getting people excited about exercise at all hours of the night.

Island Athletics owner John Murphy opened his facility from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday during a recent weekend. Members and nonmembers were asked to make a $10 donation to be able to work out or attend classes during that time. Club instructors donated their time to teach classes during the night.

The event was organized by club member Cindy Ruppert whose family has used the services provided by Hospice of Queen Anne’s.
