Wye Mills resident Christopher N. Jakubiak announced his candidacy for the state Senate in District 37 before supporters last week at Snappers Waterfront Café in Cambridge. Jakubiak, who is running as a Democrat, is seeking the Senate seat held by incumbent state Senator Richard Colburn, R-37-Mid-Shore, who has served as the district’s Senator since 1995. Jakubiak will go up against Easton resident Tim Quinn in the September 14 Democratic primary election, with the winner running for the Democratic Party in November’s General Election. Both Jakubiak and Quinn had filed with the Maryland State Board of Elections; Colburn had yet to do so.
