Deborah L. Blood, RD, LDN, CDE, has joined the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Shore Health System as a certified diabetes educator and wellness coach. In this role, she will work with the center’s team of nurses and physicians to assess, educate and coach individuals and groups about living with diabetes.

Blood is a graduate of Keene State College in New Hampshire, where she earned a bachelor of science in dietetics. A registered dietitian since 1996, she has been a certified diabetes educator for ten years and is also a certified wellness coach.

Before relocating to Easton to join Shore Health System, Blood worked in hospitals and outpatient centers in New England, where she offered diabetes education and nutrition counseling. She was most recently an online wellness coach for Waterfront Media’s Everyday Health Network.

Blood is a member of the American Dietetics Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators, Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group, the Wellness Coach Association, and the Hunger and Environmental Nutrition Practice Group.

The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Shore Health System is part of the University of Maryland Medical System Joslin Affiliate Program and is the only diabetes specialty clinic on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate offers a multidisciplinary program, which includes diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and individual and group education programs.

“Education is our primary focus when working with people who have been diagnosed with diabetes,” says Nancy Barger, RN, CDE, manager of the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Shore Health System. “Deborah’s extensive experience as a dietitian and educator will enhance our services and benefit the patients who come to the Joslin Center.”
