The Kent Bureau of Investigation has obtained a warrant charging a Rock Hall man with embezzlement in connection with a theft scheme that occurred at Bayside Foods in Rock Hall. The accused is identified as Vincent Robert Deleonardis, 41, previously of the 5000 block of Circle Park Drive, Rock Hall. He is charged with one count of embezzlement, twelve counts of theft and four counts of theft scheme. Deleonardis’ location at this time is unknown.

The investigation began in late January 2010 when the owner of Bayside Foods contacted the Rock Hall Police Department to report a theft by a former employee. A subsequent investigation revealed Deleonardis was the head cashier at Bayside Foods and responsible for the accounting of all daily monetary transactions. During an audit of the business financial transactions, a preliminary total of nearly $95,000 was found to be missing from August 2009 through January 2010. A more in-depth audit revealed nearly $230,000 was unaccounted for while Deleonardis was in charge as head cashier. Evidence revealed that Deleonardis shorted bank deposits and utilized the stores Cool Re-loadable Prepaid Card Plan to divert money onto a prepaid card that he would later withdraw utilizing an ATM machine.
