The summer season has started and the second performance in the free concert series, “Thursdays in the Park” will be in a new venue this season. The Kent Island Yacht Club in Chester, Maryland will host Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition along the beautiful banks of the Kent Narrows. Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition boasts five world class musicians who have been winning the hearts of bluegrass fans for years. With banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and bass fiddle the group plays traditional and contemporary compositions laced with three part harmonies and bluesy solos. Known for their easy way with audiences, they put on a great show for music lovers of all ages.
Their first CD, “Foolish Pleasure”, is a collection of mostly original songs written by guitarist and vocalist Roger Green. It includes traditional bluegrass, a new gospel tune and an instrumental “Skip Jackin”. Band members Dan Kimball on mandolin, lead and tenor vocals; Sue Tice on fiddle, and harmony vocals; Bob Tice on banjo, and harmony vocals and Jim Duvall on the acoustic bass fiddle are all featured on the CD.
The concert is Thursday, June 23 at the Kent Island Yacht Club in Chester, Maryland. The Thursdays in the Park series is presented by the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council, the Maryland State Arts Council, WCTR, Tidewater Trader, United Way of Queen Anne’s County and Petra Quinn for Exit Gold Realty. Bring blankets or chairs; concert goers may bring in picnic fare and food will also be on sale. The performance begins at 7 pm and will be held rain or shine.
