In May KIFA will be presenting the 49th Annual Open Judged Art Show. Each year, the Silver Heron Award, sponsored by an anonymous donor, is given to an amateur artist age 65 or older in recognition of their fine contribution to the May show. This year and forever, in memory of our dear friend and neighbor Florence Dunn, the Silver Heron award will be re-named the Florence Dunn Silver Heron Award. Over 30 years ago, Florence Dunn and her husband Gil, made it possible for KIFA to purchase the magnificent building that KIFA calls home. The award will be presented at the Show Reception on Thursday evening, May 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
Also, on Thursday evening, June 7, 2012, during the Artists Garden June show reception (5 – 7 p.m.), a Magnolia tree will be planted and dedicated to Florence on the KIFA lawn, to forever remind KIFA members and neighbors of KIFA’s special relationship with the Dunn family.
Both events are free and open to the public.
