Koval Eagle Scout Project

Andrew Koval, a Boy Scout with Troop 495 (KI United Methodist Church) completed his Eagle Scout Project in December 2008 and was awarded his Eagle rank at a Board of Review in August 2009.  An Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held in April.

Koval entered Scouting in First Grade as a Tiger Cub with Pack 495, and crossed over into Troop 495 in Fifth Grade.  Koval earned in excess of the 21 merit badges required for Eagle Scout and held numerous leadership positions in the Troop including Librarian, Historian, Scribe, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader.  Koval is also a member of Boy Scout’s Order of the Arrow.

For his Eagle Project Koval built an informational kiosk for Queen Anne’s County in the parking lot at the Rt. 8 South Trail between the Matapeake Pier and Clubhouse.  The kiosk was planned by Koval who sought out donations of materials and funds to complete the project.  Friel Lumber donated most of the building supplies, Langenfelder Marine donated clamshells for the base, and TSI Walls fabricated and donated the window sashes.  Construction was managed by Koval and performed by Scouts and parents from Troop 495.

Koval, a Kent Island High School Senior, and senior member of St. Christopher’s Youth Group, is the son of Michael and Nancy Koval of Chester.
