Congressman Frank Kratovil is back on the Eastern Shore after spending four days in the Middle East. He met with top military officials to discuss the recent surge of troops and if the country would be ready in July 2011 to start withdrawing troops. Kratovil says he learned the country might not be ready to meet the president’s deadline. He says his trip also gave him a chance to reflect on the controversial Don’t Ask Don’t Tell bill that recently passed in the House. Kratovil did vote in favor of repealing the 1993 law banning gays from serving openly in the military.
