Oxford author Lawrence M. Denton has recently published William Henry Seward and the Secession Crisis: The Effort to Prevent Civil War. The Oxford Museum and the Historical Society of Talbot County are partnering to present a talk and slide show of highlights from the book. The lecture will introduce Seward and his leadership in trying to avert the Civil War.
The lecture will be held on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2010, at St. Paul’s Wesleyan Church in Oxford at 7:30 pm. The church has been recently and beautifully restored by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stanley, who have graciously opened it to the public for this free event.
In addition Latitude 38 restaurant has offered to contribute 10% of food sales on that evening to the Museum and Society.
