Lecture by Oxford Author Lawrence M. Denton

Oxford author Lawrence M. Denton has recently published William Henry Seward and the Secession Crisis:  The Effort to Prevent Civil War.   The Oxford Museum and the Historical Society of Talbot County are partnering to present a talk and slide show of highlights from the book.  The lecture will introduce Seward and his leadership in trying to avert the Civil War.

The lecture will be held on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2010, at St. Paul’s Wesleyan Church in Oxford at 7:30 pm.  The church has been recently and beautifully restored by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stanley, who have graciously opened it to the public for this free event.

In addition Latitude 38 restaurant has offered to contribute 10% of food sales on that evening to the Museum and Society.   Latitude 38 features on Wednesday evenings a prime rib special for $15.95 in addition to the regular menu.   Please call 410-226-5303 for dinner reservations.   For more information on the lecture, call the Museum at 410-226-0191 or Historical Society at 410-822-0773.  Reservations for the lecture are not necessary.
