How did you come up with your band name? The name was a play on the Steel Drums or pans our band’s sound is known for. We wanted to make sure we kept the “steel” in there and thought that because we are known for playing outside in the sun where we feel as if we are “fried like an egg,” the reference would be appropriate.

If you were to describe yourself in one sentence …what would you say? Tropical Rock… where the sounds take you to a place where you are sitting on the beach watching the sunset sipping on a cocktail with a little umbrella.

Do you have any other hobbies besides, obviously, making music? Steve Tove, outside of music, loves playing softball and referees for girls’ high school lacrosse. The other two members are true musicians and don’t have any real hobbies outside of music.

What’s your most embarrassing experience? Our most embarrassing experience is when one of us messes up musically on a note or in a key. Most times the audience will never know, but being musicians, we hear it and will taunt each other unmercifully.

Be sure to catch the cool tropical sounds of Pan Fried Steel at the Taste of the Narrows on Saturday, October 12th. To hear their tunes, check them out on facebook and catch one of their performances at the Courtyard Concert Series at the Village Centers in Howard County. To book Pan Fried Steel for a private party or function, email Steve at Panfriedsteel@yahoo.com or call 410-971-9594. Pan Fried Steel can provide your event with the perfect background music to make your guests feel they are on a tropical beach sipping on a frozen concoction.
