Library Board Seeks Trustee Applications

The Board of Trustees of the Queen Anne’s County Free Library is looking for residents of Queen Anne’s County to serve on the County Library Board. Trustee terms are for three years, and each trustee is eligible to serve for two terms. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the fourth Mondays of September, November, January, March, May, and July. Four meetings are at the Centreville Branch and two at the Kent Island Branch.

The Annotated Code of Maryland, Title 23 establishes that “public library resources and services are essential components of the education system….” Some of the duties and responsibilities of Library Trustees are to: set library policies; adopt reasonable rules, regulations, and bylaws; and approve the library budget request and allocations. Serving on the Library Board is a good way to serve the County and its residents – young and old alike.

Applications are available at the Centreville Library, 121 South Commerce St. in Centreville or at the Kent Island Library on Library Circle in Stevensville. Applicants are interviewed by members of the Library Board’s Nominating Committee.
