On Thursday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m., in the Easton Elementary School’s Moton Gym (307 Glenwood Avenue), the Talbot County Free Library will present a zany, fast-paced clown theatre program starring Paul Hadfield as General Foolishness. Hadley’s General Foolishness has appeared at venues as diverse as Washington’s Wolftrap Theatre and the China Children’s Festival in Taiwan. The National Theatre said of his show, “Our audiences are still talking about your super-duper stunts and utterly delightful performances.”
Hadfield’s General Foolishness is a true clown, arrogant yet whimsically childish, dexterous yet painfully clumsy. He begins his show by marching to the top of an unsupported ladder and blowing reveille; he goes on to perform any number of hilarious feats, including spinning plates, a Houdini escape, and juggling clubs atop a six-foot unicycle. Known for his appeal to children and adults alike, Hadley’s performances combine music, dancing, and audience participation with plenty of comically controlled chaos.
This program is sponsored by the Eastern Shore Regional Library. The Talbot County Free Library would also like to thank the Talbot County Public Schools for the use of their Moton Gym. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register for this program, nor do they need tickets to attend.
