Lighthouse Christian Academy Raises More Than $46,000 at Annual Auction

Lighthouse Christian Academy celebrated its Twelfth Annual Live and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville. In attendance were many community members and school supporters, as well as school staff, family, and friends. The theme of the auction was “An Evening of Island Magic” and featured island décor, cuisine, and entertainment. More than 125 guests attended, and the event raised more than $46,000 for the school.

The Master of Ceremonies was school parent Jodi Dauses. The auctioneer, Mr. Robert Campbell II, hosted the spirited live auction, which included a one-of-a-kind PRS SE Custom guitar signed by Christian award-winning band Third Day, vacations, personalized tours and events, one-of-a-kind student artwork, and more. Mr. Campbell also hosted the Special Appeal bidding to fund the newly created Technology Fund to bring technology into the hands of students and teachers. The Special Appeal raised more than $14,200.

In addition to the live and silent auctions and the Special Appeal, the evening featured a raffle for an iPad Mini, which was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis, a restaurant raffle valued at more than $500, and the raffle of an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

During dinner and silent-auction bidding, the guests were entertained by the unique piano stylings of Anthony Cianchetta, an alumnus of Lighthouse Christian Academy. Once bidding had ended and the guests had settled in with coffee and dessert, the school’s Omnibus students presented a demonstration of their class’s technological prowess to illustrate how the school would use the funds raised at the event. The evening ended with entertainment provided by comedian-magician Christian Graham, who delighted the guests and drew many of them into his act.
