Lighthouse Christian Academy Raises Over $33,000 at Annual Auction

Lighthouse Christian Academy celebrated its Eleventh Annual Live and Silent Auction on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville. In attendance were many community members and school supporters, as well as school family and friends. The theme of the auction was “New Beginnings,” which was inspired by the school’s move this fall to its new home at Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church in Stevensville. The event raised over $33,000 for the school.

The Master of Ceremonies was Pastor Adam Powers of Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church, who leads devotions each morning for students at LCA. The auctioneer, Mr. Robert Campbell II, hosted the spirited live auction, which included a Cancun family vacation, one-of-a-kind student artwork, a private Napa Valley wine tasting for 16, and a PRS guitar signed by the Christian band Casting Crowns. Mr. Campbell also hosted the Special Appeal bidding to fund the construction of a new playground at Safe Harbor over the summer. The Special Appeal raised more than $8300 alone.

In addition to the live and silent auctions and the Special Appeal, the evening featured a raffle for an Amazon Kindle Fire, which was sponsored by Steve Roberson Plumbing of Queenstown, a Half-Price Tuition raffle for the 2012-2013 school year valued at $3500, and a Restaurant Raffle for local restaurants valued at $450.

As guests arrived and registered, sixth-grade LCA student Zachariah Lambert greeted them with his upbeat, original guitar music on the patio at the Country Club. During dinner and silent-auction bidding, the guests were entertained by the unique piano stylings of Anthony Cianchetta, a ninth-grade student at Lighthouse Christian Academy. Once bidding had ended and the guests had settled in with coffee and dessert, the band Trace took the stage to debut their newly released album, Storms. Trace is a local Christian band composed of three LCA upper school students, with Alea Murray and Madison Morton on vocals and Anthony Cianchetta on piano. The band’s CD was offered for sale at the auction, with proceeds benefitting Our Haven Shelter and the LCA Parent-Teacher Organization.
