The Dixon House Independent and Assisted Living announced the promotion of Linda Elben from Administrator to Executive Director. In this leadership role, she coordinates and manages the daily operations of The Dixon House including the overall care of residents, support of their families and caregivers, and innovative collaboration with staff.

“We were delighted when Linda joined us two years ago, and brought her expertise and dedication to help improve the lives of our residents who call The Dixon House, home,” says John Atwood, president of The Dixon House board of directors. “It is an honor to be able to promote Linda to Executive Director.”

Among her accomplishments since joining The Dixon House is leading a $120,000 building renovation project; expanding staff to include a full-time Registered Nurse; increasing resident admissions from the community; successfully managing an annual fundraising campaign; and improving quality of care by promoting staff retention. Linda has also been able to expand activities and programs for Dixon House residents due in part to grant funding from the Women and Girls Fund.

“Working alongside a wonderful group of residents and staff at one of the oldest non-profits in Talbot County has been a dream job for me these past two years,” says Linda. “As Executive Director, I’ll continue the tradition of gathering support from the community to continue to provide a comfortable, affordable home for our elders.”

Linda began working with seniors over 20 years ago, and has been licensed as a social worker since 1993. Prior to joining The Dixon House, she served in a medical adult day care setting, with a local government health department, and at a regional community hospital. Linda holds an undergraduate and Master degree in Social Work with a specialization in aging and clinical services.

Born and raised in Caroline County, Linda is a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her extended family and her pets, as well as traveling, attending performance and sports events, and reading novels.
