Live Auction Features Travel Packages at CBMM’s September 10 Boating Party

The live auction of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s (CBMM) September 10 Boating Party fundraising gala will feature Caribbean and San Francisco vacations, a hunting/fishing expedition in Trappe, Maryland with a catered dinner, and an original watercolor by artist Jeanne Saulsbury.

A Caribbean vacation in St. John, US Virgin Islands, donated by Mary Lou and Joe Peters and American Airlines, will be one of the packages auctioned off during the event. The trip includes two American Airlines coach seats from Baltimore to St. Thomas and a 7-night/8-day stay in a two bedroom villa at the Westin St. John Resort & Villas. The package is valid through December, 2012, with some blackout dates, and includes room, tax, resort charge and transfers for two.

A San Francisco travel package will also go on the auction block at the September 10 fundraising event. The San Francisco package, donated by Drs. Sherry and Charles Manning and American Airlines, includes two American Airlines business class seats from Baltimore to San Francisco and a one-week stay in an elegant, spacious apartment in fashionable Nob Hill, with unobstructed views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, and San Francisco Bay. The accommodations are within walking distance to Nob Hill neighborhood restaurants, shopping, galleries, museums and all that San Francisco has to offer. Package includes limousine service to and from the San Francisco airport. Photos can be seen at www.1039abroadway.com.

A day of hunting or fishing and dinner for eight will also be up for bid. The package is the winner’s choice of hunting at Saulsbury Estates in Trappe, MD, or fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. The day culminates with a fully catered dinner, prepared that evening from the day’s bounty at the location of the winner’s choice. Dinner includes wines as well as all linens, china, and glassware. The day of hunting and fishing is donated by Chef’s Expressions and Cindy and Jim Franzoni of Verdant Valley Farm.

A framed, original watercolor donated by artist Jeanne Saulsbury will also be auctioned during the event. The artwork was created for the invitation design for the event, and features a skipjack dressed in flags along a Chesapeake sunset.

The museum’s September 10 fundraising gala features cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a full-course gourmet dinner, live music, dancing, and a live auction. The evening will be highlighted with a performance by the Freddy Cole Jazz Quartet, with Freddy singing many of his and his late brother Nat King Cole’s favorite tunes. The evening will culminate with dancing to the live music of The Golden Gup. For more information about the event, visit www.cbmm.org/boatingparty or call 410-745-2916.
