Local CPA Elected Second Vice President of Maryland Society of Accountants; Joins Board of the Foundation for Community Partnerships

Patricia Mager, CPA, President, WHBG, Inc., 116 Log Canoe Circle, Stevensville, has been elected Second Vice President of the Maryland Society of Accountants (MSA). In addition, she has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Community Partnerships, Chester, Md., for a three-year term ending June 2015.

Ms. Mager previously served as MSA’s secretary in 2011 and treasurer in 2009. Founded in 1959, MSA protects the rights of all accountants, bookkeepers, tax practitioners and financial planners to practice in the state of Maryland. The society is the only regional accounting and tax organization permitting and recruiting memberships from these professions. With more than 2,800 members representing nearly one million small businesses, the MSA unites the accounting and tax professions in common goals of education, networking and public service.

The Foundation for Community Partnerships opened its first fund in December 2004, and now represents nearly 60 separate charitable groups from Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties and has distributed more than $4.2 million to local charities since its inception. As a community foundation the non-profit organization is designed to help individuals, families, businesses, and organizations create charitable funds to respond to local needs.

Ms. Mager received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Towson University and is currently completing a master’s degree in finance and accounting at the University of Maryland. Her professional memberships include the Board of Directors of the Maryland Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation as well as the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), the National Association of Tax Professionals, and the National Association of Female Executives.
