More and more adult children in the Baby Boomer generation are faced with thinking about their parents’ current living situations, safety, and health as they age. One the average, seniors are moving into independent retirement communities at age 85. To help adult children with the daunting task of making informed decisions, Londonderry Retirement Community in Easton is sponsoring a seminar, “Aging Parents: Dealing with Today and Planning for Tomorrow,” on June 2, 2012, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

This seminar is intended to help adult children who are concerned for their parent(s) in their current living situation find a safer and more supportive lifestyle for their loved one(s). Geriatric Social Worker and Consultant, Amy Schine, LCSW-C will present a two-hour seminar exploring how to recognize the signs when parents are not managing well on their own; the various levels of care/housing available from home health, independent living, assisted living, nursing home care, and adult day care; how to recognize the pros and cons of aging in place at home and alternative options; and how to discuss this difficult topic with aging parents.
