Maryland’s general assembly has adjourned for the year. Don’t be surprised if Governor O’Malley calls lawmakers back for a special session later in the year. There was a lot of unfinished business, and lawmakers worked all the way to the midnight deadline, passing bills doubling the flush tax for septic users, and spreading teacher pension money responsibilities among counties, not a popular move. Lawmakers also passed a budget but it remains to be seen whether Governor O’Malley calls lawmakers back to modify it.
